Once I cracked the spine on this juicy new offering from editor Rachel Kramer Bussel, I simply couldn't put it down. This anthology--published by Cleis Press, and available now from Amazon.com --is everything erotic anthologies should be but unfortunately seldom are.

Ms. Bussel--editrix extraordinaire--is responsible for bringing us over 20 erotic collections, and her passion for her work certainly shows. But even in a career like hers brimming with top-notch erotica books, this one is a standout.

As she explains in the introduction:

"I like the women in this collection, and not just because they remind me of me when I’m reveling in being slapped across the face, forced to the ground, utterly at my chosen lover’s (or master’s, or partner’s or top’s) mercy. It’s not just the actions here that are familiar, but the reasoning, the way they crave and cringe in the face of the power they are claiming, and the power they are giving up. They are smart enough to know that kink is not about simply embracing one’s fears, but grappling with them, battling with them, taking risks and seeing if, in fact, they yield very sexy rewards."

I couldn't agree more.

While each of the 22 stories in Please, Sir has its own unique flavor, one of my favorites--hands down--was "I Breathe Your Name" by Tess Danesi. And after reading her intense tale of submission and asphyxiation in a steaming hot shower,  I'll be sure to seek out more of her work.
